This temple which is located at the confluence of Chao Phraya River and Pasak River was built 26 years before the city of Ayutthaya was established.
It attracts a lot of visitors from all over the country who make their way here to pray for happiness and prosperity. Worshipers flock to the main hall to pay respect to the seated Buddha image “Luang Pho Tho”, it almost reaches the top of the chapel with its height of 19 meters, one of the most revered Buddha images in Thailand. Some people also make robe offerings. The robe changing ceremony, however, stopped since October 2017.
The gigantic Buddha image, also known as “Sam Pao Kong” is surrounded by the walls that enshrine thousands of small Buddha images.
